ANKARA, May 30 (Reuters) - Turkey's nationalist MHPopposition, riven by a leadership battle, will hold anextraordinary congress sought by party dissidents on June 19, acourt-appointed organising committee said in a statement onMonday.
The congress is aimed at resolving a leadership disputebetween MHP leader Devlet Bahceli and dissident MHP members andcould complicate President Tayyip Erdogan's efforts to pushthrough reforms boosting his powers.
Polls suggest Bahceli's removal could lead to a surge insupport for the MHP. Bahceli himself set a date of July 10 foran extraordinary congress after a court ruled the assemblyshould go ahead, saying he will stand again for leadership.
